RCII P14

Randomosity Chronicles II - Part 14

“...”

“...”

“...”

“...”

“... So what do we do now,” Rachel asked with a ._. expression.

“... No clue,” Pikachu supplied ever-so-helpfully.

“So how about we just ditch Nicky and get going?” Nalini suggested, a pathetic cross between hopeful and pleading on her face.

Pikachu glared at her. “That would be extremely screwed up.”

“C’mon, Rach said that more people would appear in this chapter,” Sarah whined.

“Me?”

“No, the Rach in the other dimension. The one that’s writing this.”

“I’m confused!” Nalini cried.

Pikachu glanced nervously at the door. The commotion on the other side seemed to have stopped; the guys must have gone back to their rooms to gossip (and change, but he didn’t want to think about that).

"You know..." Sarah said slowly, "I was thinking about how much of a coincidence it is that we just happen to land where everybody else is. I mean, what are the chances of that happening?"

"Way to change the subject," Rachel commented.

"It's not a coincidence," Pikachu muttered. "Not if my hunch is correct... stupid Hiba-"

“Oh the hell with this,” Yuedi said, cutting him off. She grabbed the necklace, yanking it off of Pikachu’s neck. “I wanna get out of here. How do you work this thing...” She held it up in the air (far out of the rodent’s reach) and began turning it over in her hands.

Pikachu snarled something in his pika-pikas, unable to speak English now that his translator was no longer with him. The purple jewel suddenly glowed blue again, and the Pokémon yelped. He rushed to grab someone’s hand, but was knocked over by Nalini as she scrambled to join the group. No sooner after he sat up did everyone else disappear, along with his precious dimension-traveling necklace.

He had lost them.

He pounded a fist on the carpet in frustration.

Bastards. Damn idiotic bastards.

----------------

“Where are we now?” Fandi asked after the group again made their dramatic entrance into the new dimension.

“Looks like...” Rachel surveyed their surroundings. “... Crosby?”

Everyone blinked and began looking around as well. It was true -- the (not so) majestic building that stood in front of them was none other than their elementary school.

“Damn it,” Van hissed, clearly disappointed. “I wanted to have an epic adventure.”

“OMIGOSH, THE PURPLE PAINT,” Sarah suddenly realized, and dashed off towards the front doors without even realizing that Pikachu was no longer with them.

“SARAH YOU IDIOT, COME BACK HERE!” Dana, Rachel, Fandi, Sandy, Angie (who had slightly recovered from her lack of Skye), Mich, and Nalini all ran after her, yelling. (Well, Mich wasn’t, she just wanted to tag along.) (And Nalini was simply being a sheep.) Van and Yuedi ambled calmly after them, while Richard wandered off in the opposite direction for no reason. (Well, actually, the author needed to eliminate people from the story, but that’s beside the point.)

The bell rang.

----------------

Rachel gasped when she briefly glanced into her homeroom and saw her class in there -- minus herself, Van, Sarah, Dana, Yuedi, and Andrea. She stopped running and took a better look through the tiny window. Unfortunately, Simon, who was conveniently sitting in his seat at the front, noticed her and got up to open the door.

Rachel considered running away, but that would seem weird. When Simon opened the door, she peered nervously inside, and was shocked when Ms. Wong waved her inside. “Rachel, you’re late,” she scolded, marking the attendance (which again, she forgot to send at the correct time).

“Has anyone seen Andrea today?” Ms. Wong asked the chattering class as Rachel jukked a chair and sat down at her desk. She bit her tongue (ow) to prevent herself from saying, “She’s in another dimension”, because that wouldn’t make any sense to anyone else.

She looked around. Everything seemed to be normal. Did they teleport to the right dimension this time? What would happen to Andrea, who was still stuck in Japan?

Suddenly, she realized that Sarah, Nalini, and Dana were headed to Sutherlandia, while she had no idea where Van and Yuedi were. Oops.

At that very moment, Sarah, Nalini, and Dana decided to burst into the room.

“Sutherland rejected us,” Sarah informed Rachel as she sat down on top of her.

Rachel moved her legs so that Sarah ended up sitting on the actual chair. “Yeahh, I sorta expected that,” she replied.

Sarah sat on her again. “So we had to ditch. By the way, is this the right place? Everything seems normal here...”

Michael’s voice suddenly sounded over the babble.

“... Oh my god, you’re so fat! Why are you taking so much space? Omg, I can’t breathe! Oh look, you’re like, squishing me! Ahhh! Get away from me, you tub of lard!”

Sarah raised her eyebrows as Nalini began protesting (and kind of failing). “Yeah... things definitely seem normal around here.”

----------------

Within minutes, Van and Yuedi appeared as well.

“Hi,” Yuedi greeted Sarah amiably as she leaned against the desk. “We were talking about genetics in the hallway. The conversation brought great lolz.”

Van plopped herself on top of Sarah (who, incidentally, was no longer sitting on Rachel due to the latter moving to the other side of the room to watch the Nalini-versus-Michael argument). “Yeah,” she agreed. “I resemble my great-grandmother, it’s sad.”

Yuedi blinked. “Wait... how old is your great-grandmother?”

“Like, ninety-something.”

“So you resembled a ninety-year-old?” Yuedi asked incredulously. “I kind of see the opposite, actually...”

----------------

“DANIEL!!”

“Well, since Andrea isn’t here, you’re the next... best... person...” Daniel tried reasoning with Rachel, who was towering over him with a murderous look in her eye and a protective hand over her bra hooks.

It didn’t work. Rachel slapped him. Hard.

And then she turned around and slapped Sam, who had tried to unhook her bra while she was distracted.

----------------

“How did we end up here?” Nalini asked Sarah, who was next to her in the batting lineup for the soccer baseball game against the Sutherlandians.

Sarah didn’t answer. She was too busy playing with Dana’s hairclip.

Nalini sighed, wishing she wore flipflops so that she could be excluded from the game. Mrs. Sutherland had insisted that everyone play and everyone gets a chance to bat. Nalini was no exception.

She turned around in time to see the ball roll right past Marco, who just stood there calmly.

“Marco, stop BSing,” Dennis yelled at him, even though he (and pretty much everyone else that was watching) was laughing.

On the third pitch, Marco punted it nearly all the way to the other side of the field and almost scored a homerun. He had to stop at third base; the Sutherlandians managed to catch up to him.

Nalini was so busy marveling at how athletic the other class was that she didn’t notice Rachel tapping her on the shoulder. A sharp whack on the shoulder blade caught her attention.

Ow, what?!”

“It’s your turn to bat,” Rachel said, and Nalini flushed with embarrassment.

"Oh. Mah bad." She waltzed up to the plate, trying to ignore dozens of eyes fixed on her with what she imagined were disapproving looks. She could hear Michael saying something derogatory about her (again -- big surprise there), and tried to ignore him.

The ball came rolling towards her. She swung her foot. It made contact. She started running.

“FOUL!” the Sutherlandians and the non-Jake-like Wongies screamed, and Nalini was forced to run back to the plate and try again (much to her dismay: “Oh my god, I have to walk all the way back there?!”).

She managed to make it to first, but not before allowing the other team to get Marco out before he could reach home.

That made three outs. It was time to switch.

“Good, now I can just stand there and not do anything,” Nalini muttered to herself, walking towards the grassy field that was adjacent to the baseball diamond.

She was sad that Andrea wasn’t here to talk about random things with her. That got her wondering about where Andrea had disappeared to, or if she was even still in... wherever those people ended up landing in. Knowing Andrea, she probably got a whiff of that Hibari dude and followed him... what an idiot.

She screamed as the ball suddenly clubbed her on the skull and ricocheted over the fence and towards the playground. Daniel chased after it.

“Nalini, watch it!” Shannon scolded her from third base.

“Look what you did Nalini!” Michael yelled from his position on the infield. “You’re so fat, the ball like, bounced off of you! It’s because of all your fat that you’re-”

“OKAY MICHAEL, SHUT UP!!” Nalini screamed back, cutting him off. She hated that guy, she really did.

She knew that Andrea would say something about them being “the perfect couple” at this point, and a big part of her was immensely relieved that Andrea was stuck somewhere else and incapable of teasing her about that.

----------------

“Hey Rachel, what happened to Andrea?” Adam asked as the Wongies went back up to bat and began crowding around home base.

Rachel managed an indistinct “uhhh”, unsure about how to answer this. “She’s... uh... not here,” she said stupidly.

Adam rolled his eyes. “Yeah, I think I can sorta tell. But... why?”

Rachel shrugged. “She’s... uh... busy?”

Adam sighed. It was obvious that he wasn’t going to get a competent explanation from her.

“Why do you ask?”

Now Adam was the one making incoherent noises while trying to formulate an acceptable answer. “Uh. No reason. Just curious.”

Rachel raised her eyebrows. “Oh... ohh-kay then," she said, trying to mask her smile. "If you insist.”

ANOTHER UPDATE. I WIN. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Oh, and if you're wondering why I wrote an entire section in Nalini's POV, it's because she's probably the most fun to write about. 8D (That may or may not be a good thing. You be the judge. 83)
